The Benefit of Mediterranean Diet
In a Mediterranean Diet, the usage of olive oil to substitute as cooking oil is one of the most distinct characteristics of this diet. This greatly reduces the person’s cholesterol level and the fat content in the oil, therefore proving that by following this diet, it is a much healthier choice for you.
Besides that, the majority of this diet comprises food such as fruit, vegetables, nuts, bread and cereal. This increases the amount of fiber and less fat in this diet. The emphasis on less fat intake in this diet is further illustrated by the moderate consumption of red meat such as beef and dairy products such as cheese and milk.
However, the highlight of the Mediterranean Diet had to come from the inclusive of wine, mainly red wine, consumed together during their meals. They are consumed in limited amounts, which are believed to bring about several benefits to a person’s health.
Red wine are made from grapes, and these fruits are enriched in resveratrol, thereby making it a healthier choice in comparison to other wines like white wine, and even other beers or spirits. Resveratrol have been tested to be able to prolong a person’s life, and make us physical fitter in comparison to when we do not consume red wine entirely. If can also reduces one’s cholesterol and blood sugar level. However, the amount of resveratrol levels in red wine is tested to be relatively low in Resveratrol content; therefore, it is encouraged to have other source of supplement for the resveratrol intake in a person’s diet. It can also reduce the probability of getting cancer; however, it must be taken in moderation.
Although the intake of red wine is to be of moderation, one can seek from other sources such as aloe vera and pomegranate. Eating red grape fruit as a whole, instead of depending on red wine is also another good alternative of introducing resveratrol into our diet.
